I love cowboy romances! I can't get enough of handsome, hardworking cowboys. I was so excited when I found out about this book, I knew I had to read it. The book was good, but it fell a little short in some places for me.

James is a cowboy, he is also a rodeo star. He came across as a little arrogant but once we got to know him he turned out to be a good guy. He really cares for his family and for Sophie as well.
Sophie is a vet student, who just so happens to be doing an internship with the vet that will be looking after one of James' animals. Sophie is sweet, and I loved how much she cared for her brother.

I could feel the heat from these two once the story got into it, but I didn't feel it right from the start. I didn't completely get why James was so worried about his mother finding out about his swearing or the fact that he flirted with Sophie...He's a grown man, he should be able to do both of these things. After the story got into it I quite enjoyed the read. I love Ms Landish's books and am looking forward to reading more from her.

This is the first book I have read from this author but I have a few of her books waiting on my kindle to be read. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but the blurb really caught my eye and captured my attention.

Emma has not had the best life. Her back story will break your heart. She is timid, she is quiet but I liked how she kept getting stronger throughout the book.
Aiden is a bit of a hunk! I totally swooned for his caring nature and his protective ways. He is pure book boyfriend material. Give me more of Aiden!
Their connection to one another was really sweet. They were safe in each other’s arms, and that was beautiful to read.

The book starts pretty heavy. You start off in the world that is called Emma’s life. I was intrigued by this book and read it quickly. I do however think that I needed more back info of what was happening in the Colton and Katia situation. The book seemed to build slow at the start and then shoot out the action pretty fast. Regardless of that I did still enjoy the book. I had tears eyes in some parts, but most of it warmed my heart. This book does have trigger warnings so please make sure you go into it knowing there might be something you may not like. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

When I open the front door, Emma forces a smile to her lips, but I can see it doesn’t reach her eyes.
It feels like I’ve lost her, and my heart clenches painfully.
Emma steps inside, her body tense as she glances around the foyer, and up at the stairs.
I hate that she’s uncomfortable in my home.
Having little to no strength left after the nightmare of a week, it feels like I’m about to break.
“Emma.” I close the door and take a step closer to her. “Tell me what happened. What you’re feelin’ and thinkin’? Let me help you.”
My eyes get stuck on the purple discoloration around her neck.
I know from experience what causes marks like that. Emma was choked. It explains why her voice is practically gone.
Rage makes me bite the words out, “What happened to your neck?”
When she presses her lips firmly together, refusing to talk, I take a step closer to her. Her body instantly goes tense, and she clenches her hands.
Fuck, not that.
“Emma, what did they do to you?” My voice is low with fear.
“Nothing,” she whispers.
I can’t stand the distance between us and I take the few steps separating us. I take hold of Emma’s clenched hands and pin them to my chest. She won’t open them or look at me.
“Please, Em. Let me share the pain. Let me help you through this.” She shakes her head, her breath catching in her throat. I brush my fingers over her cheek and lean closer. “Who hit you?”
She opens her mouth, and at first, only a rasp of air comes out.
It hurts like hell to see her like this.
Then she presses her forehead against my chest and finally whispers, “Colton.”
Fucking bastard. I wish I’d killed him when I had the chance.
I wrap my arms around her, wishing I could give her all of the strength I have left. I’m used to being in control, to being able to handle everything, but all my power has been stripped away from me.
Pressing a kiss to her temple, I softly say, “Tell me what they did so I can make them pay.”
She pushes against my chest, and I take a step back.
Her face is tight with anger. “You think you can actually do something about it?”
I frame her face and make her look at me. “Emma, I can. I’m not your dad. I’ll prosecute them with everything I have.”
“This is not about my fucking dad,” she screams, her voice breaking over the words. “You can’t do anything about it, Aiden. It fucking happened. It’s done. Nothing you do will change that.”
Her arms wrap around her waist, and hunching over, a broken cry tears from her. My heart shatters at the sight of her crumbling right before my eyes.
I move forward, but she sags to the floor, whimpering, “Don’t touch me.”
Feeling helpless as fuck, I watch the woman I love with every single beat of my heart, fall apart.
I sit down beside her, needing to let her know I’m not going anywhere.

I am torn! I have been so excited about this reading this. I was intrigued by Blue from the very start of this series. The book was pretty good for the most part, it was emotionally gripping and a little suspenseful. I just could not feel the love connection between Blue and Psalm. There wasn’t enough interaction for me to see their connection grow. There was also a couple of little loose ends that needed tying up, like why Michelle was the way she was. This didn’t seem to get answered.

I love MC romances, and although Blue is not an active MC member we still got to see bits of the MC club. I liked how emotionally gripping the story was. How it sucked you in and how it really made you dislike Blue’s ex wife! I also thought Psalm was a sweet character, always there when you needed her no matter what. I did cry through Toto’s scene!

I am hoping that the next book in the series is Table’s story, I would love to know more about him. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
