Synopsis
Senior Detective Cat Day has one hard and fast rule about dating: no cops. They live hard and die young—a truth she’s faced every day since her fiancé’s tragic death several years ago. But when rookie Jace Sutton shows up to work the same burglary investigation, she feels desire she hasn’t felt in years.
Jace knows what he wants the minute Detective Day strolls onto his crime scene in heels and a pencil skirt tailored by God himself. He wants to thaw the legendary Ice Queen, and it only takes one hot, dirty night for Jace to realize he wants more. Much, much more.
But more is the last thing Cat wants from any cop—especially a playboy rookie like Jace. As the burglary investigation heats up and he repeatedly puts himself in danger, Cat must ask herself if Jace will be as reckless with her heart as he is with his life.

This is actually my first read from this author. I was excited to get my hands on it and finally read a story written by her. I liked the story for the most part, but I also felt slightly disappointed after reading the book as well. While I loved the fact that this book is about an older woman and a younger man, and it has that whole forbidden aspect of things, the book left me wanting more. I wanted to feel a deeper connection with the characters, not one based on sex. I couldn't fully get behind their feelings for one another because it seemed to be built on their chemistry in the bedroom instead of their chemistry outside of the bedroom.

The book has hot, like of the charts hot. It flowed well and was written in a way that kept you interested. I liked how caring Jace was towards Cat. Jace was just a sweetheart behind his broodiness. I liked how well Jace and Cat went together and how the age difference didn't bother Jace in the slightest. I would definitely read another book by this author and I have my eyes on her previous contributions to the Misadventures series.

This is my voluntary arc review.

Meet the Author
Sierra is a voracious reader of all things including the smuttiest smut, young adult, piles of non-fiction for research, and everything Bill Bryson (especially on audio).
She loves writing the dirtiest things that she can think of, King Arthur, sparkling water, Tarot, coffee, leggings, and learning new words daily.
Her previous jobs have included firing ceramics, teaching living history lessons in a one-room schoolhouse in full, 1908-approved school marm attire, and working as a librarian for several years—not in that order
She lives in the Kansas City area with her hot cop husband, two children, and two giant dogs. (And two cats, but they're so naughty we don't talk about them.)
The social media she cares about the most are Spotify and (her very very NSFW) Tumblr. Following her in those places is a true love language, indeed.

Let me ask you a question:
If someone is vying for your spot on a team and just so happens to injure you during practice, would you believe it was on purpose?
Word around campus is . . . it was no accident.
That injury has cost me everything; my starting position, my junior year—and the draft. Now, I’m a senior fresh off recovery, struggling to find my groove, until the day I run into a nervous, fidgety, girl with freckles, in the dining hall.
They call Milly Potter The Baseball Whisperer, The Diamond Wizard, and The Epitome of All Knowledge. She believes in baseball. She breathes it. She’s the queen of an infamous dynasty, but no one actually knows who she really is, and she plans to keep it that way.
One mishap in the panini line, one miscommunication in the weight room, and many failed attempts at an apology equal up to one solid truth -- Milly Potter never wants to speak to me again -- no matter how good my forearms look.
Little do we both know, she’s about to become more than just my fairy ballmother.

RATING - 💜💜💜💜💜

OH MY GOODNESS! My love for this book is HUGE, MASSIVE.... These characters, this story, it's just everything. I was captivated from the very first page, I didn't want to put it down at all, adulting went right out the window, and my family then had to fend for themselves, because I was in my reading cave and the words in this novel were all that I needed to survive. My heart is so full with how beautiful and emotional this story is!!!

I laughed SO HARD...Milly is so awkward that is was adorable... From the cookie incident... to the talk about the dangles... I laughed so much I cried!!! These two are just so cute together! They burn hot, but have a connection so deep. It was beautiful to watch them grow together. And of course there was the heart aching parts that made me cry all the tears, I just couldn't help it. I was so invested in their story.

This author has written masterpiece after masterpiece and I am just in absolute awe of her story telling. Ms Quinn is fast becoming one of my absolute favourite authors, her writing is so impassioned that it's so easy to fall in love with anything she writes. I can't wait to see if there will be anymore from this series! I can not get enough!

Excerpt:

He lifts the bat, adjusts his feet, and looks toward the pitching mound.
“Hold it there while I do some examining. Is it okay if I touch you?”
“I mean, just don’t cup my junk or anything.”
I know he’s joking, but it still makes my face flame, which I know turns my cheeks an awful shade of red. Ducking under my hat, I walk to the back of him so he can’t notice my embarrassment. “I . . . I won’t be grabbing your, uh, junk.”
He chuckles. “I know, I was just kidding.”
“Oh yeah, I know,” I say awkwardly.
Letting out a large exhale, he drops his hands and turns toward me, his large frame towering over me. “Maybe we should clear some things up before we start getting technical with my swing.”
“We don’t need to clear anything up. We can just—”
“Milly. We haven’t had the best interactions, and I want to make sure we’re cool.”
“Yup.” I stare down at the ground. “Totally cool.”
Apparently, me trying to avoid the conversation doesn’t work for him, because he reaches out and places his finger under my chin. With a small lift, he forces me to meet his eyes, the one place I didn’t want to look.
“Humor me, okay?”
My eyes blink a few times as I swallow hard. I’ll give him this; he’s very handsome. Chiseled jaw, enhanced by a soft tan. The lightest of scruff dances across his face, and his lips have a pink pout I would never have expected in a guy. And then there are his eyes, a brilliant blue bordered by long, dark eyelashes. It’s said the eyes are the gateway to a person’s soul, and I can fully believe that when it comes to Carson Stone.
“Okay,” I answer softly just as the wind picks up, blowing his fresh-soap scent in my direction. What is it about the scent of a spring mountain that makes a girl giddy inside? I mean, not giddy, but that did smell nice, really nice

Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her. To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach.
The next time I saw him, I was twenty, and he was thirty-six.
He didn't remember me. And when he flirted... I didn't tell him.
By the time he found out, it was too late. We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.
Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
Too bad he’s my dad’s best friend.

An age gap, forbidden romance.... YES GIMME GIMME!!! When I read the blurb for this book I just knew I needed to read it asap. This book had a big lot of angst.. ohhh that pull between the characters was high. You could just feel the tension on the pages anytime that these two were in the room together. All that want, all that lust, it just was a joy to read.

Grayson and River were heating up my kindle with all their seductive looks and sneaky touches. Their story is a really slow burning one. Their individual stories will grab your heart and just not let go. I did have a bit of a cry in certain parts, I couldn't help myself.

The story itself was well written and flowed beautifully. Each time I pick up a book from this author I just know it will be a story that touched my heart in some way. I can't wait to see if she will write a story for Gray's brother. I can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

3.75 stars... (Not quite a 3.5 but not quite a 4.)

This is the first book I have read by this author. Full disclosure (runs and hides), I could not connect to Jason at all. I am not sure if this is due to me not being able to read book 1 before I started this one so I could get more of a background on him, or maybe my own emotions were in the way of me fully connecting to him. I am so sad because I really REALLY wanted to love him!

The story line was good, lots of twists and turns I didn't actually see coming which I liked a lot. I love a bit of drama with my books at times. There was a lot of push and pull throughout the story as well. The book was written really well and it flowed in a way that kept me intrigued all book long. I can't deny that the hero and heroine had a pretty electric chemistry. HOT!

I am intrigued to see what happens in the next book which I think might be Asher's book. I really enjoyed his parts through this one, so I would love to get inside his head. I'd love to read more by this author.

EXCERPT

I did hate him.
I hated that he made me feel so alive, so desired.
I hated the way he knew exactly how to kiss me, touch me, to get me to fall at his feet.
But most of all I hated how I didn’t hate him, not even a little bit.
“Relax,” he said as if he knew I was all up in my head. “If it makes you feel any better, I hate you too.” His thumb brushed my neck slowly before he chased his touch with his lips. “I hate how I can’t stop thinking about you.” Kiss. “I hate that you say the most ridiculous things.” Kiss. “But most of all I hate that Thatcher and his goon had their hands on you. I hate...” His lips touched my skin again as my heart crashed against my ribcage.
This wasn’t the plan.
He wasn’t supposed to say all of this, to feed the small part of me dreaming of a different time and place. A time and place where Felicity Giles could ever end up with a guy like Jason Ford.
I waited for his words, greedy for more. But they never came, replaced with hot kisses as he dragged his tongue up and down the hollow of my throat. Disappointment flooded my chest but deep down, I wasn’t surprised. Jason would never admit the truth. That there was something between us. That this was more than just sex. And for as much as it hurt, maybe it was better this way.
His hands were all over me now, his mouth the same.
“Jason,” I said, gently tugging his hair. “Slow down.”
He lifted his face, brow arched. I took advantage of the moment, pushing my hands against his chest to move him back. Then I fumbled around to find the recline handle and pulled.
“What the fuck?” he grunted, and I stifled a giggle. Jason needed control. He needed to hold all the power. But this time, I wanted to be in the driving seat.
I wanted to drive him wild.
“What game are you playing, Giles?” he asked, his hands gripping my hips as I gently rocked above him. We both groaned, and another thrill shot through me. He was at my mercy now.
With my newfound confidence, I hooked my hands into the waistband of my leggings and pushed them down over my hips. It was no easy feat getting them off, but I managed. If Jason noticed my clumsy striptease, he didn’t comment, his hooded gaze too busy eating up every inch of my bare skin.
“Fuck, you’re beautiful,” he whispered.
Yeah, fuck. His words were like a poisoned arrow through my heart.
As if he noticed my hesitation, challenge glinted in his eye. He was ready to pounce, to take back the power and flip this whole thing on me. But I wasn’t backing down. I wasn’t just a pawn in his game.
I was the goddamn queen.
And this queen wanted her king to kneel at her feet.

A coming of age, enemies to lovers, contemporary romance filled with angst and all the feels.

I couldn’t remember a time before her... Harley Jameson.

Before she owned me.
Hated Me.
Needed me.

Before I hated her…

Things were simple.
We had an understanding.
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.

I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.

She was mine.

Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…

That I LOVED her.

RATING - 💜💜💜💜
I was a little surprised when I picked up this book to be honest. I thought what I was getting was a NA romance, Enemies to Lovers style. What I didn't realize was that book 1 in this duet would be purely written in the POV of Jackson and Harley as kids. This book is the kids at ages 6 all the way to 16. I get why it needed to be done this way though, I get that we needed their back story fully before we can get into them as adults, but I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. As a reader I don't read YA, and if I do happen to read it it's usually Mature YA (18+), so a few things within this book didn't sit right with me.

I did however laugh at the antics of these two kids as they hated on each other a hell of a lot, and there was so much hate between them. So it did make me smile at their childish hate towards each other. I could see their feelings for each other changing as the book went on, as they grew into teenagers. I cried so much for Jackson, oh how I cried. This book definitely had a lot of feeling behind it, and I really liked that.

I am looking forward to what happens next because that prologue... holy heck did it get me! I can't wait to find out.
