REVIEW Healing Scars by Audrey Ravine

REVIEW

HEALING SCARS

HEALING SERIES BOOK 1

BY AUDREY RAVINE

After her marriage unravels, Tyler Thomas returns home to Georgia with her young daughter. Defeated and disillusioned from years with a heavy drinking and unstable husband, she begins to pick up the pieces of her life and tries to heal from the abuse. Home feels safe to her. Especially after her ex, embittered by his shattered dreams of being a professional football player, spewed threats for years and placed the blame of not making the NFL draft squarely on the shoulders of his high school sweetheart, Tyler, and her pregnancy during their college years.

Zac Jacobson, the local veterinarian has carried a torch for Tyler since moving to her high school as a junior. Now the beauty he remembers has moved back with her young daughter. He’s fighting demons of his own, suffering from PTSD after an injury forced him to medically retire from the Army. Tyler gives him an unexpected glimpse of hope to heal his inner demons.

Just when it seems the two may heal and blossom together, Tyler’s vindictive ex-husband allows his shattered dreams to twist his logic, he unfolds a plot to take Tyler away from her new beginnings. Zac sets out to save her, pulling his resources to find Tyler, who have become his salvation.

A story of broken dreams, and the healing power of love, Healing Scars will draw you into the complex lives and the imperfect souls trying to hold on to the best parts of themselves as they struggle with what life has dealt them.

Rating - 💜💜💜💜 . 5
This is my first book by this author and I really really liked it. This is a slow burn, military romance. I found the story to be sweet, captivating and a little suspenseful. It’s about finding that one person who fits you, fits your life. That person who has the ability to heal your wounds and your scars. Two broken souls finding each other again, and that is just beautiful.

Zac has always had something for Tyler, every since he met her at 16. It wasn’t their time back then, they had a lot of things to go through before they could be together. Zac is ex military and has PTSD, the reason he had to leave is sad, but I know that these things truely happen in the life of the military. Zac is the sweetest guy when he is around Wyatt and Tyler.

Tyler is broken, she is scarred. Her past is something I know a lot of women live through, and I wish that no one ever had to again. Tyler is strong, she found the strength to walk away from that life and take her daughter with her.

I felt the connection between Zac and Ty right from the prologue. They were definitely connected in a way Kent and Ty never were. I loved them together. So much love, so much sweetness, so sizzling together. I would have liked to have known what happened to Kent. He got lost at the end. As well as Zac’s back pain. Other than that, I thought this story was great. I can’t wait to see more from this book world!

RELEASE REVEIW Let There Be Light by A.M Johnson

Title: Let There Be Light
Series: Twin Hearts Duet #1
Author: A.M. Johnson
Genre: Coming-of-Age/New Adult/MM
Release Date: November 16, 2018

Blurb

His world was water and rhythm.  Hard work and drive kept Royal O'Connell one step ahead of his competition. His spot on the swim team, keeping his scholarship, was the only plan that mattered.

His world was ebony and ivory. Natural talent and ambition set Camden Morgan apart from the other music majors. His dedication scoring him a full ride.

Normally, their paths would have never crossed….

But when Royal meets his best friend's new roommate, his big plan and Camden’s controlled environment faces a variable that could destroy it all.

Attraction.

The world they live in had no room for error. That undeniable pull between them was dangerous and neither one of them could've prepared for the choice they'd have to make.

Love isn't always an easy road and, when everything they've worked for is on the line, they'll have to decide if being together is worth the risk.

*This is not a traditional duet*
 *Not A Cliff Hanger*

I just love collage romances. It's always where people start to discover who they really are, what they really like, what path they want to take in life, and that is a beautiful thing to watch and read about. This book is no different. This is all about discovering who you really are and being ok with that. This book was such a good, emotional read.

Camden is a piano genius, even though he would argue with that title. He is quite, reserved, and likes to listen to things around him. He was quite happy with all of this until Royal came crashing into his life. Camden has a sad backstory that has made him the way he is.
Royal is a talented swimmer. He is also really close to his twin Indie. He discovers something different when he looks at Camden, and when he listens to Camden play his piano. I really liked reading about these two, and the obstacles they faced.

There are some sad parts, but other parts that make your hear soar. This couple was just perfect. The read is a slow burn and although it took me a few chapters to get lost in the book, I loved this read. Indie's story will be interesting so I can not wait for that one as well.

REVIEW

FALLING FOR THE PLAYBOY

BY KENNEDY FOX

Never trust a man who gets paid to take off his clothes for a living and then uses it as a pick-up line to get girls in bed with him. That should’ve been enough for me to call in sick that day. I’ve worked with male cover models like him before and they’re all the same—smooth-talking, sexy as sin, egotistical know-it-alls who think they’re God’s gift to women—all traits I know to steer clear of. Assisting authors comes with many perks—reading on the job, using my organizing skills on a daily basis, drinking coffee by the gallons—but Maverick Kingston barges into my life and demands more than I can handle. When we’re forced to road trip across the country together, he pushes every boundary I have and rearranges my thoughts on playing it safe. And when he “accidentally” drops his towel, he makes it very clear what he’s offering and proves he’s packing more than abs of steel under his clothes. Working with him was brutal, but falling for him was unexpected. And playing by the rules will be impossible.

I love love LOVED this book! It is short, it is sweet, it is sexy. I just loved every single second of it. Everything about this book was just so good. I love the way Kennedy Fox writes, it pulls you in from the start and does not let you go until the very end. Just the way I like my books!

Olivia is an author's PA, or more like slave. This girl is a saint for putting up with what she does. I am a PA myself for a wonderful author, so I can not even comprehend being treated this way. Olivia is straight laced, she loves and craves order. But she is also funny and charming when you get through the walls she has in place. I really liked her character.

Maverick is a model, who just so happens to be on the cover of Olivia bosses book! Maverick acts like he has the biggest ego in the world but inside he is such a gorgeous person. Behind those rock hard abs and that panty melting smile he is just a guy with heartache of his own. I just love him.

These two together is pretty electric. Their connection is felt through the book and it was such a pleasure reading their story. This book is written so well, it flows nicely and I was never bored with any part of it. I wish it didn't have to end. I smiled with these characters, I laughed with them, I felt sadness with them, and now it's over it feels like I have left my friends. I just love books that can do this to me. I can not wait for the next story in this series. It is going to be so good!!!

Olivia’s POV

“Can I turn off this church music?” Maverick asks thirty minutes into our trip. He leans forward and starts messing with the knob. “It’s nice driving music,” I argue, swatting his hand away. “You can’t be serious. This shit is gonna put you to sleep and then we’re going to crash and die. You really want that on your conscious?” The corner of his lips tilt up just the slightest. “Guess it wouldn’t matter. I’d be dead.” I flash a smug smile right back at him. “Oh I see how it is. You look all innocent and smart but deep down you have this morbidness to you.” I shoot him a look. “You’re the morbid one with all your crashing and dying talk.” I turn my music back on. “Now no more talking about it because if I don’t get you to these events on time, Rachel will actually kill me.” “Why you so scared of her anyway? I could fit her in my pocket. She looks harmless enough.” Glancing at him, I try to focus on the road and shake my head. “You know she’s anything but harmless.” He chuckles, shaking his head. “Yeah, you’re right. She’s not a firecracker like you though.” “I’m not even sure what that means, but you can’t label me when you just met me.” “Oh, like you haven’t labeled me already?” “I know your kind. I’ve heard plenty about you to form an opinion,” I tell him with purpose. “God, you’re so hypocritical. You think you’re the first prissy, stick-up-her-ass assistant I’ve met? Doesn’t mean I know you just like it doesn’t mean you know me. He kinda has a point, but I don’t tell him that. His ego is already taking up all the space in the car. Ignoring his comment, I focus on driving. We’re in heavy traffic and I’m not used to eight lane highways. “You better get over,” he says. “I’m trying.” I look over my shoulder, searching for a spot to move into. “Might wanna try the blinker. I heard it’s a signal for turning or moving over.” I sigh and put it on. He’s distracting me. “Stay quiet so I can focus.” His chuckles are the last thing I hear from him as I attempt to merge across the lanes. Finally, I make it and we coast down the highway in silence until we’re leaving the city. “When are we stopping for food?” He speaks up for the first time in hours. I look over at him and see he’s sticking his lower lip, making a pouty face. “I’m shriveling to nothing over here.” He slightly lifts his shirt up and pats his ridiculously cut stomach. His eyes meet mine, and I quickly look away although he saw me staring. Swallowing, I look at the GPS to see how much further until our first stop. “We have about an hour left,” I tell him. “Think you’ll manage to stay alive for that long?” He groans, loudly and it makes me laugh. I quickly catch myself and stop. “You have a nice laugh. It’s a pleasant change from your short fuse and snarl.” “I don’t snarl!” I argue. “I just like having a plan and sticking to it.” He noticeably rolls his eyes. “Okay, Miss Priss. Letting your hair down won’t kill ya.” “No, but your arrogant, self-absorbed attitude just might,” I throw at him, holding back a smirk. “Well, I think that’s debatable. Most of the women I date think it’s charming.” A loud snort bursts out of me, and I’m unable to keep in the laughter this time. “I think that says more about who you’re dating than anything. They must be desperate.” “Damn, what a burn.” He chuckles. “Adding hostile to your personality resume.” I inhale a deep breath, realizing that was a really mean thing to say. “Okay, sorry. That wasn’t nice. But I’m not taking back what I said about you. You’re arrogant and there’s no denying that” “Oh well then thanks, I guess.” He smirks. “You say it like being arrogant is a bad thing though. In my profession, I kinda have to be. I’m constantly selling myself to photographers and showing them I’m worthy of being in their magazines and advertisements. If I don’t act confident and prove I’m the best guy for the gig, I’ll lose it to the thousands of other people pursuing the job.” I think about his words for a minute. “Okay, well I can certainly understand that. But I think you’re just naturally that way.” I shrug, biting down on my lower lip so he doesn’t see right through me. He has every right to be confident, there’s no doubt about that. He’s got it all—the body, the face, the perfect white teeth and smile. His abs are plastered all over Rachel’s covers and book promo graphics. He even has that annoying muscular V that trails from his hips to down below his waistline. Annoyingly sexy. “However, that doesn’t mean you can’t be humble in other aspects of your life.” “That’s a pretty big accustation for someone you just met. How do you know I’m not? You haven’t been around me long enough to know anything about me. Don’t you think?” Damn. He’s right. “Fine. Prove me wrong then.”

REVIEW Tequila Tequila by Emma Hart

TT-Live3.jpg

Tequila + you best friend + your bedroom = um, whoopsie?

Tequila Tequila, an all-new hilarious standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is LIVE!!

TT-FULL.jpg
Don’t sleep with your best friend.
Take it from me. I did it. And it was awful.
I-wish-the-tequila-made-me-forget kind of bad.
The problem is, Luke has forgotten. He swears that he can’t remember a thing about that night beyond the trays of tequila shots being set on the tables.
Except I can’t forget. I can’t forget how good his hands felt until I fell over and hit my hip on the dresser, and I sure as hell can’t forget the entire two minutes of tap-tap-squirt.
Awkward. Embarrassing. And the new subject of a couple of dirty lucid dreams.
But I have no intention of telling him what we did. Nothing good comes from telling your best friend he’s the worst guy you’ve ever slept with.
Which makes the tequila on my birthday a very, very bad idea…

3.5 Stars
I love friends to lovers romances, and I also love a good rom com, so I knew I wanted to read this one as soon as I knew about it. I didn't quite connect to the story however. I didn't laugh as much as I usually do with books by this author. It was however still a good quick read.

I really liked Luke's character, he was fun, he had the craziest family, and he was a loyal friend. Also a little bit of a sweetheart when he wanted to be. Aspen was witty, but she seemed to love to argue with Luke a lot. Their relationship progresses rather slow, so this is definitely for all those slow burn romance lovers.

The really liked the story line, I like a good slow burn as well. I would have love to have seen more of a connection with the characters, I unfortunately could not feel much of one outside of their friendship. The story was a good quick read and I devoured it in one day. I look forward to seeing what else Ms Hart has in store for us!

DISCLAIMER - Do not start reading this book if you have plans... I repeat do not start this book if you have plans!!!
OH MY HEART!!!!! This book is AMAZING!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! And yes, it was essential to yell those words. I have read every book so far in this book series, but this one right here is by far my favourite. I have loved them all but the author has really outdone herself with this emotional, heartfelt romance. A romance about having a second chance at love, about having a second chance at life. Definitely make sure you have tissues handy for this one.

Piper is a strong female lead. I really loved her character. She has moved away from her family to find herself and to live for her, and I think that is just wonderful. She was knocked down but she got back up. Her character is determined, strong, sassy and sweet.
Kaine is such a rough and tough man full of pain and anger. He has been hurt. His past is extremely sad and he was so strong to make it through. Kaine is definitely my favourite male lead in any of the books I have read by this author. Even though he is rough and tough, he is also the most sweetest and caring man you could ever meet. I just love him.

These two characters together created electricity! Their connection was jumping off the page at me. I could feel it through every scene, through every tension, through every touch. Gahhh I just love these two together. This book had me tearing you from the prologue... I knew right from then that this was going to be an emotional ride and I was right. There were so many emotions I felt through this book, from sadness, to anger, heartbreak to happiness. I just loved every second. Ms Perry has time and time again shown me why she is one of my favourite authors. Her writing is so impassioned, it is just phenomenal. I live to read the words she writes and I will be a fan for life! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book. I can't wait for more from Lark Cove!

He holds a power over me like no one else ever could.

Maybe it’s because my heart begs to beat in time with his.
Maybe it’s because my body bows to his and his alone.
Maybe it’s because he thought he loved me before he even laid eyes on me.

He thought wrong, it wasn’t me he thought he loved, and nothing has made me suffer like that little secret has.  He thought I belonged to him, but he was wrong. It was never supposed to be me.

Our memories are deceiving, but I know what I want now.
What I need more than anything.
I won’t rest until he’s as much mine as I am his.

HOLY BEEPING HECK!!! This book is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I am not even kidding right now! I was on the edge of my seat right from the start and it was that way right until the end. The emotions running through me while reading where intoxicating, they pulled me under their spell. I had goosebumps, which hardly happens when I read a book but it happened through most of this one. I even had to put my kindle down when the intensity of the plot felt like it was going to pull me under.

Carter and Aria hold my heart. This book is bittersweet because it's the end of their story, but the beginning of their forever. I just can not tell you enough how much I love it. I did not want this to end. I was crying so much through certain parts that I felt like my heart was going to break in two.

This book is EVERYTHING. This book has to be Ms Winters best book to date. There is so much passion in her writing that I felt it all, every single little piece. Her heart is written into this book and now this book also holds my heart. I highly recommend this series, It is just utterly amazing. I am now have the biggest book hangover. I am looking forward to the rest of the brother's books, but for now my heart belongs to Carter and Aria.

I have loved reading books by this author, this one didn’t quite get me hooked like the others have unfortunately. It was still a good read and was really funny in some parts.

Mandy turns up at her brother’s beach house and gets the surprise of her life. She is a strong heroine and is recovering from a vice that not many can shake. She has a son, that in my opinion, was a little rude at the start of the book, but I guess it’s understandable after what has happened between them.

Grant is an NFL player, and a friend of Mandy’s brothers. He is recovering and has secrets. He is such a grumpy man at the start of this book, but I warmed up to him. He was actually quite sweet by the end, and a good man. He was really good with Mandy’s son as well.

I read the book rather quickly, in just a couple of hours. Even though some parts of the story I didn’t quite connect with, there were a lot of parts in the book that held my interest and made the book hard to put down. I laughed a lot and the secondary characters were also fun to read. Can’t wait for more from this author.

Blog Tour.jpg

Excerpt:
For a beat we stare at each other, neither of us voicing the undeniable truth that
something is happening between us. Something deep and real and scary.
He pins me to the side of the pool, his arms framing mine, and leans closer. I can’t
pry my eyes away from his lips, full and slick with water.
“You make me want to try,” he quietly confesses.
I’ve told myself a thousand times to stop thinking about the way he looks at me. Or
that he’s so sweet with Sam it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch those two
interact. Or that Roxy fell hard and fast in love with him from the outset and everyone
knows dogs are the best judges of character.
I’ve told myself to stop staying awake at night wanting him but he makes it nearly
impossible. His eyes fall to my lips and I swallow, goose bumps breaking out from my
hairline to my toes.
“Try what?” I ask in an equally quiet voice. Reaching out, I dare to run my
fingertips over the short beard from the side of his face to his chin. His thick lashes
beaded with water flutter shut.
“Be a better man for you.”
“You’re the best man I know already…nothing to try for.”
“You keep at it like that and I’m going to kiss you,” those perfectly shaped lips
murmur. It sounds like a threat and a promise and part of me hopes it’s both.

About P. Dangelico
Dangelico loves romance in all forms, cuddly creatures (four legged and two), really bloody sexy pulp, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse crap). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media so don’t expect her to get on Twitter anytime soon. Oh, and although she was born in Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.
